The Fairlight CMI (Computer Musical Instrument) is a 1979 computer based workstation – now, lovingly sampled for the OP-1. Use sounds which influenced classic 1980s artists, such as Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush and Stevie Wonder.

Developed in the late 1970s, the Fairlight CMI revolutionized music production by introducing a graphical interface for sound manipulation and pioneering digital sampling technology. It gained fame for its use by prominent artists in the 1980s, contributing to iconic hits. The Fairlight CMI’s innovative approach to sound design and its early adoption of digital sampling have left a lasting impact on the music industry.

Contains 33x sounds, pre-formatted for use with the Teenage Engineering OP-1.

Description

The above pack is part of the OP-1 Classics collection – a set of packs which samples vintage and retro equipment, synthesizers and samplers and formats them for upload to the Teenage Engineering OP-1. Each pack contains a minimum of 33x samples which can be dropped onto your OP-1 without any further work. Please see the OP-1 Genre collections, for packs made to reflect specific genres. The OP-1 Create sets, which use interesting and complex production methods to make unique sounds are also available, or consider becoming a VIP member for lifetime access to all the packs, plus exclusive packs.
